Hi, we are Autism Awareness Uganda. We are a collection of passionate individuals, parents, professionals and organisations dedicated to creating awareness about autism and a support network for people living with autism and their carers.

What We Do

TRAINING
Skilling families and caregivers to improve daily living skills and the wellbeing of persons with autism, their functioning and participation in the home, at school, work and in the community.

AWARENESS RAISING AND ADVOCACY
Improving understanding of autism and mobilising communities/Ugandan society to change negative beliefs, attitudes and behaviours in support of persons with autism, their caregivers and families.

OUTREACH AND SUPPORT-NETWORK BUILDING
Extending care services, including counselling, information and referrals, to families and caregivers in their homes and communities.

Since we opened in 2020 we’ve sparked conversation and reached 500+ parents, caretakers and people through social campaigns.

We have organised and coordinated 10+ events and trainings aimed at skilling families and caregivers to improve daily living skills and the wellbeing of persons with autism, their functioning and participation in the home, at school, work and in the community.

We have partnered with 8 organisations and special needs professionals since 2020 who have been crucial in enabling us deliver key services and trainings to our community.
